The old one I had was given to me by a retired teacher, and though it was 10+ years old, all of the buzzers but one worked. I bought the wireless ones with much excitement, but I am very disappointed in the quality. I was going to order replacement buzzers, but they are $40+ just for the buzzers.
It is an okay product, and when the buzzers work. It is a great tool, for my students love them;however, it is definitely something that will have to replaced often.
I said almost child proof above because the unit is very well made. The battery door to each unit is screwed on, so the kids cannot accidentally open the battery compartment or lose the battery or the battery door. On the other hand, when the kids slam on the button, there's a chance that it might fly across the table and land on the floor because the buzzer button is so light.
That wasn't the reason why I gave it a 4 star. The -1 star is because the system seems to lag. When the children push the button, it doesn't respond right away. There seems to be a 1-2 seconds lag before the system responds. For example: I asked the question and said, "done!" The kids all pushed the button. A second or two later, the system then indicates who pushed the button first. It makes the kids think that their button isn't working. If it is instantaneous, this would have received 5 stars.
